Artist Panel Talks – Moderated by Ibarionex Perello From (The Candid Frame) Podcast PANEL SET 2
The Power of the Photographic Image in Our Time is a dynamic talk exploring photography’s unique role in storytelling, shaping identity, and driving social change. Delivered by a photographer, photo editor, or educator, the session uses real-world photo examples—either projected or printed—to illustrate how images resonate across both personal and collective experience. The talk concludes with an optional Q&A to engage the audience directly.
This session features two compelling voices in photography: Javiera Estrada, whose work emerges from a progressive, experimental approach that pushes the boundaries of visual expression; and Krishna Malhotra, who draws from a classic, purist tradition, emphasizing timeless composition and technical precision. Together, they offer a rich dialogue between modern and traditional photographic philosophies.

Featured Photo Exhibition
The Inglewood Photo Festival is proud to present a powerful photo exhibition featuring a diverse group of photographers whose work spans documentary, fine art, street, and cultural photography.
Leading the lineup is Maria Abranches, the Inglewood Photo Festival Book Grant recipient, whose deeply humanistic and community-driven work explores themes of identity, resilience, and belonging. Her photography reflects a quiet strength and sensitivity that makes everyday moments feel profound.
Featured artists include:
• Janette Beckman – A legendary British photographer whose iconic portraits of punk, hip-hop, and youth subcultures have shaped visual history for decades.
• John Simmons, ASC – Emmy Award-winning cinematographer and photographer whose soulful imagery celebrates Black life with elegance and authenticity.
• Frank Jackson – Known for his masterful black-and-white compositions, Jackson’s work blurs the lines between street photography and fine art.
• Greg Hatton – Founder of IMPACI, Hatton uses photography as a tool for advocacy, justice, and amplifying underrepresented voices around the world.
We are proud to announce Maria Abranches as the 2025 Inglewood Photography Festival Book Grant recipient for her project Here is Maria. The Inglewood Photography Festival Inc, in its inaugural year, is dedicated to celebrating the art of photography and fostering a community of photographers, collectors, and enthusiasts. Through exhibitions, workshops, and this new Book Award, the festival aims to nurture emerging talent and promote the power of visual storytelling. The festival is also committed to bringing photographers from around the world to Inglewood, enriching the community with diverse perspectives and artistic expressions.
Our festival aims to achieve urban revitalization by infusing art and culture into underutilized neighborhoods, empowering underrepresented communities, and providing education and resources to young artists. It addresses a void in the photography space in Southern California. We use photography to bridge cultural differences, showcase Inglewood’s art history, and engage the community through immersive experiences, fostering global artistic exchange. Additionally, we highlight the impact of emerging technology on photography, exploring innovations like AI and blockchain, and support artists in protecting their intellectual property and enhancing their skills.
